Lavandula x Intermedia, (low altitute lavender)

A hybrid plant develop by crossing true lavender (L. Angutifolia) with spike Lavender or aspic (L. Latifolia) by french people around hundred years ago. As it is easy to cultivate Lavandin even on low altitute soils. Higher yield of oils compared to true Lavender and more economy to be used in toiletries industries. Due to hybrid nature, Lavandin has a variety of forms. In general, it is a larger plant than true lavender, with woody stems. Its flowers maybe blue purple like true lavender or grayish like aspic.
Lavandin has similar uses to true lavender, but its more penetrating and rubefacient with a sharper scent. Compared to True Lavender which best known for relaxing properties, Lavandin good for respiratory, circulatory, muscular conditions, antimicrobial, antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Characteristic:
a colorless or pale yellow liquid with a fresh camphoraceous topnote and a woody herbaceous undertone. its blend well with clove, bay leaf, cinnamon, citronella, cypress, pine, clary sage, geranium, thyme, patchouli, rosemary and citrus oils especially bergamot and lime.
